A bipartisan group of 50 House members have teamed up to create a road map to reopen the economy safely.
The Problem Solvers Caucus will unveil its plan today, Fox News reports.
The plan covers public heath, economic recovery and long-term stimulus plans for Congress and President Donald Trump to consider implementing.
"The bottom line is people I think are eager for a checklist. They want to understand what we think it takes to get everything moving again," Rep. Josh Gottheimer, D-New Jersey, co-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, told Fox News.
The plan features a “Back to Work” checklist, which will help the country reopen and guide future relief packages.
"What this checklist does is it shows that if you're sincere and you want to put partisan politics aside ... you can actually roll up your sleeves and you can find some common ground that makes a lot of good common sense," Rep. Tom Reed, R-New York, co-chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, told Fox News. "It also shows that you can get the necessary votes at 218 and 60 to get it done [in the House and Senate.]”
At the top of the list, is the need for more rapid mass testing. The group wants to scale the amount of testing up and create a federal contact tracing database, like the one in place to track measles.
There is also plans to increase personal protective gear in various industries including education. All children and teachers would have access to masks to return to school, the plan states.
Other aspects of the plan include recommendations for travel, how to sanitize public spaces and ways to provide financial incentives to bring overseas manufacturers of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies back to the United States.
There are suggestions to financially help businesses that were forced to close and relief efforts for mortgage and rent payments.
The group has held seven meetings over the last four weeks. The 50 members are equally divided between Republicans and Democrats. Some of the proposals will require some executive agency or congressional support in order to take place.
