MSNBC anchor Chuck Todd speculated special counsel Robert Mueller could make a big announcement Friday and said it is not a day for the news media to miss work.
"Here's what I've learned about Bob Mueller: Not a single person that has known him, been with him, worked with him, wouldn't say that he would have ended this investigation if there was no collusion – that he would have already ended this investigation," Todd said during a panel discussion on "MTP Daily."
Later, Todd said he will no doubt be at the office Friday.
"I think he knows, more than anything, he keeps quiet between Labor Day and Election Day," Todd said of Mueller. "I'm not missing work [Friday]. I wouldn't miss work [Friday]. [Friday] is the last business day of the pre-Labor Day to Election Day window."
Mediaite posted a clip of Todd's comments.
Mueller began his investigation in May 2017 after allegations surfaced the Trump campaign may have colluded with Russia. No evidence of collusion has been made public, although Mueller's team has indicted several Russians for various crimes related to election interference.
A handful of people in Trump's inner circle have also been indicted, including his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort — who was recently found guilty of tax and bank fraud.
