Christie, Booker Poke Fun at Selves in Online Video

By    |   Wednesday, 16 May 2012 10:47 AM EDT

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie wants to assure America that he’s “got” the vice presidential nominee under control.

In a new video called “Don’t worry, We Got This” posted on the governor’s YouTube page, Republican Christie and Newark, N.J., Democratic mayor Cory Booker poke fun at themselves as they compete to do good deeds.

It parodies the "action man" image of Booker, who saved a neighbor from a burning building in April by slinging him over his shoulder, and came to the rescue by shoveling snow during a winter blizzard.

Story continues below video.

Channeling the television rivalry between Jerry Seinfeld and his nemesis Newman, Booker gets to swoop in at the last minute to save the day telling Christie, “I got this.”

Booker rescues a young girl’s cat from a tree, fixes the governor’s flat tire, helps New Jersey’s own Bruce Springsteen replace a missing guitar before a concert and even saves a baby falling from a state Capitol balcony. Each time Christie is thwarted he turns to the camera, grits his teeth and mutters “Booker!”

In the final scene, Booker is on the phone telling Mitt Romney that he would not make a good running mate because he’s “not a number two guy” when Christie comes in, grabs the receiver and says: “Excuse me mayor, I got this.”

Booker then turns to the camera, grits his teeth and says “Christie!”
