Chance The Rapper said Monday he will donate $1 million to Chicago's public schools – after an unsuccessful meeting with Gov. Bruce Rauner, R-Ill., over options to help the cash-strapped schools.

The "Coloring Book" rapper described his donation as a "call to action" and asked for similar contributions from the city's business community, the Chicago Tribune reported.

"Gov. Rauner can use his executive power to help get Chicago's children the resources they need to fulfill their God-given right to learn," the musician said, per the Tribune. "Gov. Rauner still won't commit to give Chicago's kids a chance without caveats or ultimatums."

"Gov. Rauner, do your job," he said, per the Tribune.

The money, which Chance said will come from ticket sales from an upcoming tour, will go to CPS's fundraising foundation.

The rapper has been frustrated by the governor's aid to the public schools that would need action from a Democratic-controlled General Assembly, the Tribune reported.

According to the newspaper, Chance said the governor pulled back on an "important commitment" to ease the district's enormous pension burden with $215 million in assistance.

Born Chancelor Bennett, the rapper has a history of criticizing government and speaking out against politicians, even Mayor Rahm Emanuel, for whom his father worked at City Hall, the Tribune reported.
