Trade Chief: Canada Dairy Disputes Will Be Resolved in USMCA Talks or Enforcement Actions

Wednesday, 22 April 2026 02:16 PM EDT

U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said on Wednesday that Canada has made no ‌commitments to alter its largely closed dairy market and disputes over the sector will need to be resolved in negotiations over the ‌U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement or through ‌enforcement actions.

Greer told ‌the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee that ‌in USMCA negotiations, both Canada and Mexico will need to ‌take steps to protect their economies ‌from subsidized products from ‌other regions, including autos from China.
