Bondi's Statement on the AG Office Shake-Up

By    |   Thursday, 02 April 2026 03:44 PM EDT

Attorney General Pam Bondi said she will step down and transition leadership of the Justice Department to Todd Blanche before moving into a private sector role, according to a statement she posted publicly.

Bondi said in the statement she will spend the next month ensuring a smooth handoff of responsibilities to Blanche as she departs.

She described her tenure serving under Donald Trump as “the honor of a lifetime,” highlighting what she called major public safety and legal achievements during her time leading the Department of Justice.

Bondi said the administration achieved the lowest murder rate in more than a century, secured terrorism convictions tied to antifa members, dismantled gang networks, took custody of cartel figures, and prevailed repeatedly at the Supreme Court.

She added that she remains grateful for Trump’s trust and said she intends to continue supporting the administration’s agenda in her next role.

Bondi’s full statement reads as follows: “Over the next month I will be working tirelessly to transition the office of Attorney General to the amazing Todd Blanche before moving to an important private sector role I am thrilled about, and where I will continue fighting for President Trump and this Administration.

"Leading President Trump’s historic and highly successful efforts to make America safer and more secure has been the honor of a lifetime, and easily the most consequential first year of the Department of Justice in American history.

"Since February 2025, we have secured the lowest murder rate in 125 years, secured first-ever terrorism convictions against members of Antifa, shattered domestic and transnational gangs across the country, taken custody of more than 90 key cartel figures, and won 24 favorable rulings at the Supreme Court.

"I remain eternally grateful for the trust that President Trump placed in me to Make America Safe Again.”
