Demonstrators painted "All Black Lives Matter" in a rainbow of colors down the middle of Hollywood Boulevard in Los Angeles over the weekend to show solidarity with and honor black LGBTQ community members during the 50th anniversary of the first Pride celebration, CBS Los Angeles reported.

The LA Pride march and festival had been scheduled to take place on Sunday, but was canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to The Hill.

Instead, approximately 20,000 people gathered on Sunday to march in an All Black Lives Matter demonstration, with Hollywood Boulevard serving as the event's starting point, according to the Los Angeles Times.

"The protest is in direct response to racial injustice, systemic racism, and all forms of oppression," according to the website for the march. "The LGBTQ+ community must extend its support to unite against oppression, police brutality, racism, transphobia, and the many other disparities disproportionately impacting the Black community."

The people participating in the march reflected the diverse community in the area, as many carried gay pride rainbow flags and signs declaring a wide range of messages and chants such as "black trans lives matter," according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

Last week in the same location, more than 20,000 people demonstrated against the death of George Floyd while he was in the custody of Minneapolis police, The Hill reported.
