The Baldwin County Young Republicans group in Alabama officially came out in support of GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore, The Birmingham News reported.
The group voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve a resolution backing Moore. The Republican candidate will face Democrat Doug Jones in the Dec. 12 election.
"This is not about Roy Moore," said Isaiah Pyritz, chairman of the Baldwin County Young Republicans. "This is just about preventing the Democrat from getting in there. It's bigger than Roy Moore. It's about the agenda of the president."
The group posted on Facebook:
Moore is the target of sexual misconduct allegations.
But The Hill reported President Donald Trump had criticized Jones' record on Tuesday.
"It's terrible on crime, it's terrible on the border, it's terrible on the military," Trump said.
"We don't need a liberal person in there, a Democrat."
The Shoals Young Republicans group in Alabama also is backing Moore, while the Young Republican Federation of Alabama has suspended its support for the candidate. According to The Birmingham News.
