Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley announced on Sunday his state will not be accepting Syrian refugees in wake of the Paris terror attacks, WAFF-TV in Huntsville reports.

"As your Governor, I will not stand complicit to a policy that places the citizens of Alabama in harm's way," the Republican governor said in a written statement.

No Syrians have been processed into the state as part of the current refugee influx, though the state does have a U.S. State Department-approved refugee processing center in the port city of Mobile.

At least one of the eight attackers in France is believed to have crossed into Europe through Greece claiming to be a Syrian refugee.
