Former Vice President Joe Biden's campaign has laid out more than $582 million on TV and digital advertising since his campaign launched last year, spending more money than any other presidential candidate in history on ads, new data reveals.

In the last week alone, the Democrat nominee's campaign spent $45 million in on-air advertising, according to data from the nonpartisan firm Advertising Analytics, reports The Hill.

In comparison, President Donald Trump's campaign has spent $342 million over the past two years.

The Biden campaign has yet another $57 million in television ad time reserved over the last 10 days of the campaign before election day, and pro-Biden groups plan to spend tens of million dollars more. The Trump campaign, meanwhile, along with outside pro-Trump groups, has booked more than $50 million in ads space.

The two sides spent a total of $160 million on advertising in the past seven days, with Trump's campaign spending $14 million on Facebook and Google ads, compared to $12.7 million for Biden.

Since Oct. 1, the campaigns and their allies have run more than 100,000 ads a week, according to the Wesleyan Media Project. Most of the ads ran in media markets in Phoenix, Charlotte, N.C., and Des Moines, Iowa, in three of the swing states Trump took in the 2016 race.

Observers expect the 2020 campaigns for president, the Senate, and the House to reach nearly $11 billion in total expenditures. The Center for Responsive Politics the campaigns have spent $7.2 billion through the end of September and projects a total of $10.8 will be spent. That is about 50% more than was spent in the 2016 races.
