Zooey Deschanel was full of praise for "Property Brothers" star Jonathan Scott during an interview in which she shared details of their two-year relationship.
"I just think Jonathan is just the nicest person in the world," Deschanel told Us Weekly. "So, I’m just really lucky. I just try to be as nice back as, you know, he is. And it works."
The "New Girl" alum spoke to the outlet while promoting her new series "Celebrity Dating Game," which she hosts alongside Michael Bolton. And although she "loves that everybody" is willing to compete on a dating game, which gives them a chance to find a place to "shine" in a different space, Deschanel said she would not do it.
"I have the best boyfriend in the world, so I don’t even think about doing something like that,” she said, adding that she doesn’t even "remember any dates before Jonathan!"
Deschanel also spoke about her relationship with Scott in an interview with People last week while discussing her environmental activism.
"It's really inspiring how passionate he is about green energy and solar power," the actress said.
Scott highlighted the topic last year in his documentary film, "Jonathan Scott's Power Trip," which he starred in, directed, produced, and wrote. "He's always working to try to figure out solutions for those problems, and really wants to support people who are being innovative on those levels."
The pair met on the set of "Carpool Karaoke." Deschanel had recently split from her husband of four years, Jacob Pechenik, with whom she shares daughter Elsie Otter, 5, and son Charlie Wolf, 4, when they confirmed their relationship. It was their shared passion for the environment that bought them closer together.
"I remember actually when we first met, he sent me his documentary and I was like, wow, we are so aligned on this level," she recalled. "Because we both really care about this one issue, but have different areas that we focus on."
Scott's focus is on renewable energy, while Deschanel is passionate about inspiring people to lead healthier and more sustainable lives. Their separate interests have a more powerful impact when it comes to making a difference.
"I'm a mom, so I'm always concerned about what we are eating and using," Deschanel said. "So it's great, because between the two of us we have ended up focusing on two big things that affect our environment."
