Zelda Williams posted a photo Wednesday on Instagram of a new hummingbird tattoo she got in tribute to her father, the late Robin Williams.
With a close-up photo of her right hand, which bears the hummingbird, Williams wrote, “For poppo. Thank you to the incomparable@dr_woo_ssc for so beautifully bringing my reminders to life. I'll always put my hand out to shake with a smile.”
Many people posted support for Williams on the photo.
“When I think of you, Zelda, I remember how proud your Dad was of you when you were born- and all the stories he told about you on the talk shows,” one woman wrote.
“Beautiful tribute and amazing thought behind it too,” another person wrote.
Williams was run off social media when her father committed suicide by people who posted Photoshopped pictures of her father’s body and said horrible things to her. The abuse was so bad that Twitter revamped its policies and suspended some users.
She came back on social media last month, and in her post of the hummingbird tribute tattoo, she addressed the issue.
“As for this Instagram, I don't know in what capacity I'll continue using it in the future, but I'm leaving it up regardless so that fake accounts hoping to use my name or misuse my family's photos will get no traction. To be clear, this is MY ONLY account,” Williams wrote. “Publicly, I have Twitter, and this. If other people post quotes and photos claiming to be me or my family, please, do not send them personal information or click links, even for charity. They could be utilizing sympathy to scam you. For the record, no one has ever or will ever speak for me but me. Thank you.”
