Pundit brothers Brad and Dallas Woodhouse were arguing on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal" when they got a caller neither of them wanted to hear — their mother.
"Oh God, it’s mom," Dallas Woodhouse said upon recognizing the caller's voice.
"I disagree that all families are like ours," Joy Woodhouse said on the phone from North Carolina. "I don’t know many families that are fighting at Thanksgiving. I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas."
The show’s host, Steve Scully, pointed out that the call was unplanned.
“She called in on the normal line,” Scully said.
The brothers, one a liberal and one a conservative, buried their heads in their hands.
Brad Woodhouse is president of American Bridge, a Democratic opposition research organization, and Dallas Woodhouse is president of Carolina Rising, a conservative political organization based in North Carolina.
The two frequently spar on issues such as healthcare.
Twitter users were amused by the story.
