Two images from "Wonder Woman 1984" are giving fans a first look at the sequel to 2017's smash hit and providing clues as to what, and whom, they can expect.

Director Patty Jenkins confirmed the movie's title and tweeted the photos Wednesday, the first showing Wonder Woman, played by Gal Gadot, standing in front of a window of TV sets showing 1980s moments, and the second showing the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor.

Pine's character supposedly died in the first installment set during World War I. The new image from "Wonder Woman 1984" shows him dressed in '80s clothes, appearing only slightly older, and looking confused in a shopping mall.

Kristin Wiig has been cast as the villain in the movie, Cheetah, while Pedro Pascal has an undisclosed key role as well, Variety reported

The “Wonder Woman” franchise is the first superhero film to be directed by a woman. The first installment was a worldwide success with $821.8 million earned, and $412.5 million in North America. It was the second-biggest movie of 2017 after “Beauty and the Beast.”

Shooting for the sequel is taking place in Alexandria, Virginia, the United Kingdom, Spain, and the Canary Islands, USA Today reported.

“Wonder Woman 1984” will hit theaters Nov. 1, 2019.

Twitter users were intrigued by the teaser photos.
