A Canadian woman is taking an Internet tongue-lashing for her up-front goal of serial dating guys so they pay the bill for her to eat at nice restaurants.
Erin Wotherspoon, 24, doesn’t keep her objective under wraps; in fact, she trumpets her goal from her blog,
“A Penniless Girl, Bad Dates & Plenty of Oysters.”

“We all know that getting what you want in life can be tough,” says her blog lead-in. “Which is why I’ve decided to let someone else finance my dreams. My dream? To eat in pretty restaurants without costing me a penny.”
So far,
Erin has been attacked for her greedy eating tactics on Reddit, which seems to bother her not at all.
“So now that I’m internet famous, do you think I can swindle some better looking richer guys to take me out?” she wrote on a recent blog post.
She did, however, challenge the idea that what she’s doing is horrible. “Wait…stop…I’m confused,” she wrote. “Am I drowning innocent puppies or am I going on first dates with guys having them pay for my dinners and never calling them again?”
Some on Reddit think she’s just looking for Internet fame and maybe a book deal. Wrote one person, “I think this is a cross between her wanting free food and her attempting to see if she can make a viral blog. Sounds a bit risky, considering Toronto is a small place. Inevitably you will run into these people again. I wonder if she has an exit strategy?”
“And this, my male compatriots, is why you only ever do coffee on a first date, NEVER dinner,” wrote another.
“Either people are like, ‘You are my hero, you are a genius’ or ‘You are horrendous and like, I want to kick you in the face’, that type of deal,”
she told Jeff McArthur on TalkRadio.
The ones who don’t like her are sure showing up online.
