A Wisconsin woman rode her bike onto a drawbridge as it was going up, and fell completely into the crack of the bridge, where she remained stuck until passersby could help her out.

The July 4 stunt took place at around 10 p.m. on the Racine Street bridge in Menasha, and police said on Facebook they suspect that alcohol may have fueled the unidentified woman’s boldness, CBS News reported.

Surveillance video from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation picked up by ABC News shows the cyclist clumsily dodge the barriers that came down to signal the bridge was opening, then pedal furiously towards the widening space between the bridge approach area and the span.

She then tumbles into the gap, where she remains until someone comes to her aid, helping her out the crevice and then hauling out her bike.

The woman sustained facial injuries and was transported to Thedacare Regional Medical Center-Neenah, WFRV reported.

Police said the stunt could have had a very different ending if others had not stepped in to help, noting that the woman could have easily fallen into the water or got crushed by the bridge if it were closed.

“The dam just north of the bridge could have increased the likelihood of a tragic ending if the bicyclist fell into the water,” Menasha police said in the Facebook post. “We would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the Good Samaritan who pulled the bicyclist to safety.”
