A strange-looking sea creature washed up on Wolf Island, a southeast Georgia beach, and was discovered by a boater there.
Jeff Warren was on his boat with his son Friday afternoon when he saw the deceased animal at the Wolf Island National Wildlife Refuge in Golden Isles, Georgia, Action News Jax reported.
Thinking it was probably a dead seal, Warren looked closer and saw that it appeared to havea long neck and looked almost prehistoric, like a “Loch Ness-type thing,” Action News said.
Action News Jax contacted the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service about what kind of animal it could be, and Director Dan Ashe said some sea animals resemble a Plesiosaur when they decompose. He said the animal was most likely a 30-foot basking shark.
Twitter users speculated about what the creature could be and whether it was even real.
