A directive is circulating around the internet for the world’s witches to unite and cast a huge midnight spell on President Donald Trump as Friday, Feb. 24, turns to Saturday.
The spell coincides with the waning crescent moon, and will also happen on March 26, April 24, and May 23, as well as on future dates, The Huffington Post reported.
Organizer Michael J. Hughes posted the spell on ExtraNewsFeed last week.
A list of ingredients, including an unflattering picture of Trump, a tower tarot card, an orange candle or carrot, among others, is given on the site along with directions on how to perform the ritual.
Hughes explained that the spell was for binding Trump and his supporters to prevent them from causing harm, not for harming him or anyone physically, like a curse or a hex, The Huffington Post reported. “I see it as self-defense,” Hughes said.
“So many of us are just overwhelmed with the assaults on civil liberties, immigrants, the environment ... this felt like a way to reclaim our power and say, ‘We have power over you. You don’t have power over us,’” the New York Daily News quoted Hughes as saying.
Hughes encouraged everyone to perform the monthly ritual until Trump is removed from office, The Huffington Post reported. Even if the spell doesn’t work in the traditional sense, Hughes said that the ritual is therapeutic. “If people feel more empowered and less beaten down, that’s valid,” he said.
Pop singer Lana Del Rey plans to participate in the summoning and encouraged others to join her on Twitter.
Christian groups are encouraging people to pray to counteract the spell, Rolling Stone reported.
Everyday Christians are taking to Twitter to sound the alarm.
However, most people on the internet seem amused by the prospect of a witches vs. Christians battle.
The White House has yet to release a statement on the matter.
