Will Ferrell was not seriously hurt and has been released from the hospital after a freeway accident flipped the SUV in which he was riding Thursday night.
Ferrell was traveling northbound on I-5 near Aliso Viejo with two other people in a chauffeur-driven SUV around 10:55 p.m. when a Toyota swerved into it, causing it to hit the center dividing wall and flip over, The Orange County Register reported.
Ferrell and a 27-year-old female passenger, who appeared to be seriously injured, were taken to the hospital from the scene.
Ferrell’s representative told TMZ the actor was not seriously hurt and was released from the hospital Friday morning. The woman’s condition was unknown.
No one was arrested at the scene of the accident and police do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role, even though beer bottles appeared to fall out of one of the vehicles at the scene, TMZ reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Ferrell was on his way back from a “Funny or Die” event near San Diego where he appeared as Ron Burgundy from “Anchorman.” The event was promoting youth turnout in the upcoming midterm elections.
Fans tweeted that they hoped Ferrell and the other passengers were well after the incident.
