Wasserman-Schultz: ‘We Own the Economy’

“We own the economy. We own the beginning of the turnaround and we want to make sure that we continue that pace of recovery, not go back to the policies of the past under the Bush administration that put us in the ditch in the first place,” DNC party chairwoman Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz told  Politico -- Wednesday at a breakfast meeting.

Meanwhile, as to the stalemate in progress between the two political parties as to how to manage a crippling deficit and soaring entitlement costs, she charged that Republicans “know how to do it the right way, they know how to compromise, they just can’t seem to break their fear of what the ramifications would be from the tea party right-wing fringe if they listened to what their inner self tells them to do.”

When asked by Politico if too a harsh standard was being applied in the case of the embattled Rep. Anthony Weiner, Wasserman Schultz replied, "I don't think so."

There was and is plenty of reason that the lawmaker should leave, she opined, noting that the controversy about his sexting and photos has apparently ended his effectiveness.

“I think that particularly because there was an effort to not tell the truth, I think that because he has engaged in some what I think is some very inappropriate conduct that has distracted his ability to do his job and distracted from almost all of our ability to do our jobs and make sure that we can effectively serve our constituents, I think that the best conclusion is that he should focus on addressing his problems and resign from the House.”
