Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has donated $10 million to Rambam Hospital in Israel in honor of its 75th anniversary.
The contribution was announced by in Haifa last week by Eitan Wertheimer, a longtime friend,
the Israeli website Globes.com reported on Wednesday.
Wertheimer and Buffet have become close friends since May 2006, when the American's Omaha-based company, Berkshire Hathaway Inc., bought 80 percent of the Israeli precision-tool maker and developer, Iscar Ltd., for $4 billion.
The Wertheimer family owned the company, Globes reports.
This past May, Berkshire Hathaway bought the remaining 20 percent of Iscar for $2.05 billion.
Buffett, who is Berkshire Hathaway's CEO, made $37 million a day on his investments this year — increasing his net worth by a total of $12.7 billion, or 27.4 percent. His net worth is
now valued at $59.1 billion.
The company owns both public and private companies.
