Attention Walmart shoppers, there's an infant in the toilet paper aisle.
A woman gave birth in the toilet paper aisle of a Missouri Walmart while shopping for groceries last week. The unnamed mother was in labor when a nurse who was in the store at the time noticed the commotion and ran to assist, KY3 reported.
Store manager Jessica Hinkle recalled how events unfolded on Wednesday afternoon.
"We were like, what do we do now?" she told the news outlet. "Another lady comes around the corner and she says, 'I'm a labor nurse, can I help?' and we said 'yes, yes please.' She had gloves in her pocket [and] she was ready."
With the help of local firefighters, they were able to deliver a baby girl.
"They're the typical fire department that shops in our store, so they were pretty proud of themselves," Hinkle said, adding that the entire ordeal took roughly 45 minutes. She acted as "crowd control" by holding a sheet up and keeping customers back to make sure "nobody invaded what privacy the poor lady still had."
Customers cheered as the mother was carried out of the store.
"They took her out on the gurney, there were customers of course gathered [and] she kind of raised her hand, everyone clapped for her," Hinkle said.
The store manager checked in on mom and daughter the following day and said they were both doing well.
"You know a feel-good moment, everybody's going through so much and with a baby it's like everything comes full circle," Hinkle said.
