Waffle House Denies Waitress $1,000 Tip; Man Makes Good With Check

By    |   Tuesday, 10 Jun 2014 07:02 PM

After a customer left a Waffle House waitress a $1,000 tip for Mother's Day, the restaurant denied giving it to the the waitress because it was left on a credit card.

According to The Associated Press, Shaina Brown was working the night shift in Raleigh when a man left her the tip.

But the Waffle House told The Raleigh News & Observer that it refunds large tips unless they're paid by cash or check to avoid disputes about charges.

Brown told WTVD-TV in Raleigh she was humiliated when the restaurant refused to give her the money.

Then, she said she got a call last week from her customer, who wants to remain anonymous. He had heard about her problems getting the tip and wrote her a check directly.

Brown is calling the man a hero.
