A viral video of a store clerk with an autistic customer has resulted in a hefty college fund for the kind clerk.
The video shows Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Rouses Market employee Jordan Taylor inviting 17-year-old Jack Ryan Edwards, who has autism, to help him stock shelves and patiently helping him do so after Edwards showed interest.
Edwards’ sister Delaney Edwards Alwosaibi posted the video on Facebook and praised Taylor for his kindness in reaching out to the teen.
On Wednesday, Alwosaibi started a GoFundMe account for Taylor’s college, which started with a $10,000 goal and has surpassed $115,000 in only five days.
“Thank you to Jordan for what you did for our Ziggy, we will never forget!” Alwosaibi wrote in the GoFundMe page, using the family’s nickname for Edwards.
According to the GoFundMe page, Taylor said he loves math and might want to be a teacher.
Neighbors Federal Credit Union stepped forward on Monday morning to give Taylor a free car after hearing about his “neighborly” efforts, WWL-TV reported.
In addition, the grocery store has offered Edwards a job there, which the family says it is considering, WWL reported.
Twitter had a lot to say about Taylor and his actions.
