Move to Vermont and work remotely and you could get up to $10,000 over two years as part of a new bill signed Wednesday by Gov. Phil Scott.
Under the legislation, which takes effect in January 2019, remote workers can get a grant of up to $5,000 a year for up to two years to pay for computer equipment and software, internet access, and membership in a co-working space, The Hill reported.
The first three years of the program can cover about 100 workers, with 20 more people added per year after that. The legislation is an attempt to bolster an aging population in Vermont.
Another program called Stay to Stay Weekends will let tourists network with employers, entrepreneurs, and realtors in the state on one of four weekends between April and October, The Hill reported.
More than 13 million people visit Vermont on a yearly basis, Quartz reported, and the state is hoping it can convince some of them to stay in the state more permanently.
The state has 625,000 people and boasts great ski slopes and views.
Opinions about moving to Vermont were decidedly mixed.
