Twitter Redesign, Similar to Facebook's Layout, Draws Users' Criticism

By    |   Tuesday, 08 April 2014 12:15 PM EDT

Twitter began rolling out redesigned profiles this week. Instead of embracing the new interface, users are complaining that the micro-blogging website now looks too much like Facebook.

The redesigned profiles, introduced to new users Tuesday and available to existing users in the coming weeks, contain a Facebook-esque cover photo, a larger profile picture, and reshuffled bio information.

According to a post on Twitter's blog, the new profiles also have the following new features:

Best Tweets: Tweets that have received more engagement will appear slightly larger, so your best content is easy to find.

Pinned Tweet: Pin one of your Tweets to the top of your page, so it’s easy for your followers to see what you’re all about.

Filtered Tweets: Now you can choose which timeline to view when checking out other profiles. Select from these options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.

But Twitter users seem resistant to the change, especially because the new design so closely resembles that of Facebook.
