Twitter went down for a while Tuesday, causing a stir online — although they obviously weren't tweeting about it until the site returned.
The outage began at 2:01 p.m. ET and service was restored at 2:47 p.m., Twitter said. The company explained the cause of the outage as “unexpected complications” related to a change to one of its core services.

The problems affected desktop and mobile applications for most users.
The social media site posted about the outage once services were restored.
The outage affected most features of Twitter, including the API and streams to third-party apps.
The company reported brief outages for some of its users on Jan. 28 and March 2.
Once Twitter came back up, users were all over the outage.
