Tweets Gear Up for Debate Night

Monday, 15 October 2012 05:05 PM EDT

The Denver presidential debate generated more than 10 million Twitter messages in less than two hours and was the most tweeted event in political history. The instant commentary that is churned out as such events unfold has changed the face of politics by shrinking an already short news cycle even more. It’s even changed the way we watch a debate — with one eye on the TV screen, the other eye on Twitter.

Looking ahead to Tuesday night’s debate, commentator and author David Limbaugh  tweeted:
“If Obama gets over the top rude, I trust Mitt will summon his inner Sununu and smoke him. LOLOL” - (@DavidLimbaugh)

-----------------

In another tweet, Limbaugh said:
“I trust Mitt will remember that the audience is not in that room with him, but in their living rooms across America.” (@RushLimbaugh)

-----------------

Sam Youngman, campaign correspondent for Reuters, tweeted:
“Ya know a good way potus could prep for a townhall debate? Hold a press conference.” - (@samyoungman)

-----------------

From Prolific tweeter Donald Trump:
“Who says Obama will do better in the next debate- has he gotten smarter in 2 weeks!” - (@realDonaldTrump)

-----------------

And finally, Fox News contributor and former President George W. Bush spokeswoman Dana Perino  tweeted:
“I've got that 'secret video of one of the candidates released just before the debate' feeling. Don't think it's just the weather.” -
(@DanaPerino)
