President Donald Trump scolded a South Korean media contingent after members of the press bumped into a couch, nearly knocked over a lamp, and damaged a table in the Oval Office as they tried to cover Trump’s Friday sit-down with South Korean President Moon Jae-in.
The Oval Office was more crowded than usual with the South Korean media present, but Secret Service had to ask the Korean media to stop running as they entered the room, according to the New York Post.
“You are getting worse,” Trump told to the assembled reporters, looking annoyed, the Post reported. “You knocked over a table.”
Trump then turned to Moon and said, “It’s actually a very friendly press, don’t let them get to you, although we just lost a table.”
The’s sit-down with the South Korean leader was followed by a joint statement in the Rose Garden where Trump said “the era of strategic patience with the North Korean regime has failed. And, frankly, that patience is over.”
Moon was elected president of South Korea after declaring he would take a more active stance against North Korea, and he warned Friday that “threats and provocations from the North will be met with a stern response” and said the U.S. and South Korea would work together to fight the threat.
Trump said he wanted to achieve “peace, stability, and prosperity” for the Korean region, but promised that the U.S. will defend its allies and itself.
