Just days before the 9/11 anniversary, freelance photographer Rich McCormack took photos of the Tribute in Light and captured a mysterious image that many belief is a heavenly figure, looking down at the site of Ground Zero.
“I didn’t realize the image was there until I looked back into the camera and saw a larger piece of white there and I kept enlarging it and saw the image,” McCormack told Inside Edition. McCormack said he took the photo around 9:30 p.m. Friday.
He posted the photo on Facebook on Monday, where it has been shared and commented on by many. Some believe it is just a trick of the light or an unusual cloud formation, but others believe it is a visitor from heaven.
"'To those who believe, no explanation is necessary. To those who do not, no explanation will suffice.' God bless," Elliot West posted on Facebook.
“Beautiful, call it what you want, but that is sacred ground,” commented John Echel.
Dolly Tavares Wimer wrote, “If that’s an angel – it couldn’t be in a better place . . .”
Commenter J.D. Ryan, less convinced, said, “One of those things that makes you go . . . Hmmmm.”
Some people think the image must be Photoshopped, but McCormack insists it was not. His Facebook post of the photo explains, “I took this photo no photo shop no gimmicks took many and only one showed this image.”
The photogrpaher admits his belief about the photo to Inside Edition: “It looked like the image of the lord or an angel. ... I feel like it was angels watching over us,” he said.
