Travis Rudolph, a Florida State University football player, is drawing widespread praise for a simple act of kindness toward a boy with autism.
While visiting a middle school Tuesday with other FSU players, Rudolph joined an autistic boy, Bo Paske, who was sitting alone at lunch, the Orlando Sentinel reported.
The boy's mother, Leah Paske, posted a photo of the encounter on Facebook, saying, "I'm not sure what exactly made this incredibly kind man share a lunch table with my son, but I'm happy to say that it will not soon be forgotten. This is one day I didn't have to worry if my sweet boy ate lunch alone, because he sat across from someone who is a hero in many eyes. Travis Rudolph thank you so much, you made this momma exceedingly happy, and have made us fans for life!"
Rudolph, a junior who led the Seminoles in receiving last season, told the Sentinel that he asked the boy if he could sit next to him and felt like they had a great conversation.
"It was really easy to [talk] with him," Rudolph said. "He had a nice smile on his face. He was a really warm person."
Leah Paske said the photo, which someone at the school sent to her, moved her to tears.
Rudolph told WCTV that he hopes Bo and his family can join him for an FSU football game this season.
"Honestly that's a cool person. I'll hang out with him any day," Rudolph said of the boy.
Twitter users cheered Rudolph's kindness.
