Morgan, 45, had been admitted to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick immediately following a car accident on the New Jersey Turnpike on June 7. Morgan is a former "Saturday Night Live" cast member who has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on the "30 Rock" sitcom, and had recently participated in Spike TV's tribute to Don Rickles.
His friend and fellow comedian James McNair, known as Jimmy Mack, was killed in the accident when a Walmart tractor trailer driven by Kevin Roper hit Morgan's limousine bus at 65 mph.
Morgan and his fiancée, Megan Wollover, thanked the hospital staff upon his release.
"He and Megan wanted to publicly express their deepest gratitude to everyone at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital for the unbelievable care and attention they provided him," his representative, Lewis Kay, told reporters.
Roper, 35, has pleaded not guilty to vehicular homicide and other charges, and posted a bond of $50,000.
Roper's attorneys also released a statement Friday, saying, "We remain mindful of the victims and continue to express our deepest sympathies to the family of James McNair, and our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery of those who suffered injuries in the accident. While this case continues to remain in the spotlight, we have no interest in commenting on rumor or speculation, exchanging a news conference for a jury, or sacrificing Mr. Roper's presumption of innocence for a sound bite."
