Tori Spelling will not be receiving her network earnings until she pays off $93,985.19 in credit card debt, according to a report.
Court papers obtained by The Sun shows that the actress has been ordered to pay the amount in two separate lawsuits. The largest sum comes from an unpaid credit card bill from 2016. The star was sued by American Express for failing to settle nearly $88,000 owing to the bank at the time.
With accumulated interest that figure has now risen to $88,731.25 but Spelling has still not paid, forcing the credit card company to turn to the Los Angeles Sheriff's Office for intervention.
In the legal documents obtained by the outlet, the office "retained possession" of the judgment on April 30 and was "instructed" to "execute garnishment" from the payroll company, Entertainment Partners. In order to satisfy judgement, Spelling owes $88,478.25.
SONY Pictures Entertainment, INC also was ordered to "withhold earnings" of the "debtor" after Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott skipped payment on a $5,054.32 unpaid credit card bill from 2018. In the lawsuit, a debt-buying company representing Citibank ordered Spelling to pay the full amount and in 2019 the Los Angeles County Sheriff was directed to "enforce the judgment" against them.
On June 9, the Sheriff of Los Angeles County "retained possession" of the judgment and issued an "earnings withholding order," The Sun noted. Spelling will have to pay $5,878.99 with $1.37 interest per day to satisfy the judgement.
The couple also took a financial knock in July 2016, when they were hit with a federal tax lien of nearly $710,000 from not paying taxes in 2014.
