The United States Social Security Administration released its annual list of the top U.S. baby names of 2017.
This marks the 16th year in a row that Emma has been among the top five girls’ names. She’s remains at No. 1 — a position she’s held for the last four years.
This also marks 12th year running that the name Sophia is once among the top 10 most popular girls’ name. She previously held the No. 1 spot from 2011 through 1013, and is now down to No. 5 on the list.
Of the top 10 names for girls, seven begin with vowels, according to The Atlantic. Of the seven, four are ranked in the top four spots — Emma, Olivia, Ava, and Isabella.
That trend doesn’t hold true for the top boys’ names, however. Only two of the top 10 boy's names begin with vowels — Elijah and Oliver, coming in at Nos. 8 and 9 respectively.
