The top baby names of 2015 feature some interesting trends, including parents naming their offspring after Instagram filters.
BabyCenter.com reported this week that boys are increasingly being called Lux (up 75 percent in popularity), Ludwig, Amaro, Reyes, Hudson, and Kelvin, while girls are often being named Juno, Valencia, and Willow.
All of those names are also the names of Instagram filters, the specialized digital effects smartphone users often add to their photos to spice them up.
Elsewhere, BabyCenter.com reported that the name Royalty is up 90 percent, along with Duchess (up 75 percent), Reign (54 percent), and Sultan (25 percent).
While some might find cause for concern with the increase in creative and unusual names, none of the above names are anywhere near the top 10 or even top 100 most popular names for boys or girls.
The absolute most popular names for boys in 2015 were Jackson, Aiden, Liam, Lucas, Noah, Mason, Ethan, Caden, Logan, and Jacob.
The absolute most popular girls names were Sophia, Emma, Olivia, Ava, Mia, Isabella, Zoe, Lily, Emily, and Madison.
"Sophia has been a powerhouse for six years, thanks to the variety of spelling options and the multi-ethnic, multi-language appeal of the name," Linda Murray, BabyCenter's editor in chief, said in a statement,
according to USA Today.
Comparatively, Murray said she predicts that Jackson will have less staying power among boys' names.
BabyCenter.com said its findings are based on the names of 340,000 babies whose moms are registered on its website. The Social Security Administration releases its annual list of the top baby names in May of each year.
