Tom Hanks interrupted a jog through Central Park to crash a couple's wedding photo session Sunday afternoon, posing with the couple and then continuing on his way.
After jogging over to the couple, Hanks introduced himself, shook the groom’s hand, and kissed the bride's, The Huffington Post reported. He then offered to preside over the ceremony, since he is an ordained minister.
The couple’s wedding photographer Meg Miller and videographer First Day Films captured the encounter of a lifetime, and photos were soon posted on Instagram, including a selfie with the couple taken by Hanks that he posted on his own Instagram account with the caption “Elizabeth and Ryan! Congrats and blessings! Hanx.”
The wedding photos have gone viral in the few days since the event occurred and will not soon be forgotten by the surprised and happy looks on the couple’s faces.
Hanks is the star of “Sully,” a movie about the pilot who safely landed a plane in the Hudson River after both engines failed. He has an extensive list of credits including “Forrest Gump,” “Saving Private Ryan,” and “The Da Vinci Code.” Hanks is often in New York to shoot and promote movies, though he lives in Los Angeles, California, officially.
In 2015, Hanks was seen riding the subway in Manhattan in the winter. He said he does so often and is seldom noticed, the Daily Mail reported. "Nobody looks at anybody on the subway. ... The city is magnificent as far as that brand of easy anonymity. You just fold right in."
