Tom Hanks is not doing "great" as he recovers from the coronavirus, which he and wife Rita Wilson were tested positive for last week, according to his sister.
Sandra Hanks Benoiton has been in contact with her Oscar-winning brother, who was discharged from hospital but remains in isolation, and believes that he will be "OK" despite his symptoms.
She offered the latest update in an interview with the Daily Mail.
"I have communicated with my brother. He's not great, but still okay. [Am I] shocked? No. He's an actor, not a god [but] medical care in Australia is good," she said.
Benoiton was speaking from Italy, which has been on total lockdown as the coronavirus continues to spread.
"We're OK here," she said. "Staying home is fine with us, and this community is wonderful. I'm lucky to be here, the spirit of the people is amazing! The US and the UK are failing miserably, however."
Hanks and Wilson meanwhile are recovering in Australia, where they were diagnosed after experiencing "some body aches," "chills" and "slight fevers."
"To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive," the "Forrest Gump" actor explained. "Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no?," he continued, promising to keep fans "posted and updated."
