'Tis the season to be jolly but that does not mean you should go on an impulsive spending spree. Being broke is not a jolly occasion at all, which is why it pays to shop wisely. 1. Winter Coats. If you already have a winter coat then it is a good idea to wait until the new year to get a new one. This is when stores start to mark down their winter clothing in an effort to move stock and make room for the next season's fashion.
2. Snow Boots. Another item worth holding off on buying until after the holidays. The price of snow-boots and other winter apparel are usually slashed after Christmas because their demand decreases as spring approaches.
3. New Cars. It is easy to get swept up in the festivities and want to splurge on a new car but if you are serious about making the purchase, wait until Christmas has come and gone before doing so. Dealerships tend to want to move stock in the new year to make space for a new inventory.
4. TVs. You will be glad you held out on buying that new TV or gadget when the prices drop come January and February. Electronics are hot sellers during the festive season so the price of whatever remains after the Christmas rush will come down dramatically as shops prepare to restock their shelves.

8. Home Décor. Wait until after the holidays and you will score big time on home décor. Chances are you will also find massive deals on outdoor accessories.
9. Fitness Equipment. Shops tend to take advantage of people's new year's resolutions and fitness goals by reducing prices on exercise equipment just after the holiday season. This is the time to buy that treadmill or exercise bike you have been eyeing out.
