Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, former Saturday Night Live all-stars and anchors of the show's famous "Weekend Update" segments, are getting their own actions figures.
Entertainment Weekly reported that the nearly 4-inch figurines are being manufactured by toy company Bif Bang Pow!, and will initially be sold at San Diego Comic-Con 2015.
The pair of 4-inch action figures are both sporting pantsuits, and come with a miniature fold-out Weekend Update news desk. Altogether, the package will cost $29.99. The limited edition packages are set for a manufacturing run of 2,400 units, with the toy company remaining mum on the possibility of future runs.
The actions figures that don't sell at the convention (if any remain) will be sold online at
EntertainmentEarth.com.
"Last year, we made a Seth Meyers 'Weekend Update' bobblehead that did well, so we thought it would be fun to bring fans more 'Weekend Update' product," the company's brand manager, Jodie Winters,
told CNN.
Asked if Fey and Poehler — nowadays working respectively on "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" and "Parks and Recreation" — had any part in the approval process for the licensing, Winters kept her answer somewhat vague.
"Typically, our licensors work directly with the talent and/or their representatives as required," she said. "We just started revealing our plans for San Diego Comic-Con on Tuesday. We'll have plenty more to announce as we get closer to the show."
