By    |   Friday, 24 May 2013 11:57 AM EDT

British actor Tim Curry is recovering after suffering a major stroke Thursday night at his home in Los Angeles.

Curry, 67, who rose to fame as star of the 1975 cult film "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," is reportedly "doing great," according to his agent Marcia Hurwitz.

"Tim is doing great," she told the Daily Mail. "He absolutely can speak and is recovering at this time and in great humor."

In 2011, Curry was forced to pull out of a production of "Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are Dead" last minute at the Chichester Festival Theatre and then in London, citing debilitating asthma attacks and a chest infection.

Many fans wished Curry well on Twitter after news of his stroke broke.
