An unnamed inspirational movie based on the flooded cave rescue of 13 people in Thailand already is in the works, with producers from Faith-based film company Pure Flix on location and scoping out the successful operation as it unfolded.
As a captivated world now knows, all 12 boys and their soccer coach trapped for more than two weeks deep inside the flooded cave had been rescued by Tuesday – a nail-biting script if there ever was one that even Hollywood couldn’t make up.
To fill in details of the harrowing ordeal, Pure Flix confirmed to Fox News, founding partner Michael Scott and producer Adam Smith were “on the ground witnessing what is happening and discussing elements... in a respectful manner.”
And while they are not filming at the moment, a movie is certainly on the cards.
A diving expert speaking about the rescue operations told CBS News that “you can’t make a horror movie that would even compare.”
Scott said he saw the challenge and accepted – and his film will be an inspirational story, not a thriller.
The elements are all there: suspense, drama, heart, courage and bravery, plus Scott's wife happened to have been friends with the former Thai Navy SEAL who died during rescue operations.
Scott said the film fits their “DNA of a really inspirational story," Fox News said.
He explained that the film will focus on two British divers who come across the trapped soccer team days after they go missing.
“It's got incredible heart, incredible acts of heroism and bravery. It’s just an incredible thing and we think it will inspire millions around the world. I see this as a major Hollywood film with A-list [stars].”
