The Tea Party Express kicked off its “Restoring the American Dream” bus tour in Western Pennsylvania Friday, saying the state could be “the key battleground” this fall, surpassing Ohio and Florida in importance.
The California-based political action committee hopes to convince voters to choose Republican Mitt Romney as president and add more conservatives to the House and Senate, the PAC’s chief strategist Sal Russo told the
Pittsburgh Tribune Review.
The tour will stop in Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Missouri, and Nebraska before finishing on May 7 in Texas.
The Tea Party Express has been involved in the presidential race since September, when it sponsored a Republican presidential debate. Russo said the organization has tried to get all GOP candidates to talk about their plans to revive the economy.
