Taylor Swift Calls Fan With Cancer, Offers Her Concert Tickets

Taylor Swift called a 12-year-old superfan this week, brightening the girl's day and boosting her spirits in what has been a tough fight against cancer.

In 2011, Emily Beazley was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. In mid-April, Beazley’s friends put together a video asking Swift to give the girl a call. They also made multiple pleas through social media.

Finally, on Tuesday around 5 p.m., that dream came true for Beazley, NBC Chicago reported. The child, who NBC said may be “nearing the end of her battle,” was thrilled to get 10 minutes on the phone with Swift.

"The smile on my daughter [is one] I have not seen in a very, very long time," Nadia Beazley, Emily’s mother, told NBC. "I could cry."

Nadia Beazley spoke to media about the special phone call because her daughter was too exhausted to talk. But right after the call, the little girl “jumped up and down” with excitement, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.

AJC said Swift’s manager offered tickets to the Beazley family for a May 30 concert. Emily Beazley would get to the meet the singer at that event.

Nadia Beazley told E! Online that Swift handled the bulk of the conversation when Emily was on the phone with her. Taylor told the child that she had heard about the cancer, about the purple and green colors people in Chicago put out in support of Emily, and how the city also named a block in her honor.

"When she was on the phone, she was completely star-struck," Nadia Beazley told E! "Emily thanked her for her music and told her what her music meant to her."

Earlier this month, Swift announced that her mother has cancer. This week, Utah sisters Jo and Sam Brady folded 1,989 origami cranes in honor of Swift’s mother. Japanese tradition says a wish will be granted to the maker of the cranes, the New York Daily News said.
