Last year Taylor Swift released the heartbreaking song "Soon You'll Get better," which is believed to have been written for her mother, Andrea, who has been battling breast cancer.
The song now takes on a whole new meaning after Taylor dropped a devastating bombshell about her mother's health during an interview with Variety.
The 30-year-old pop sensation revealed that Andrea has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
"Everyone loves their mom; everyone’s got an important mom," Taylor said. "But for me, she’s really the guiding force. Almost every decision I make, I talk to her about it first. So obviously it was a really big deal to ever speak about her illness."
Doctors made the discovery while Andrea was undergoing chemotherapy to treat her breast cancer, which was initially diagnosed in 2015.
Andrea underwent treatment and went into remission but in March the cancer returned, according to The U.S. Sun. Then doctors discovered the tumor.
"The symptoms of what a person goes through when they have a brain tumor is nothing like what we’ve ever been through with her cancer before," Taylor said. "So it’s just been a really hard time for us as a family."
In light of the diagnoses, Taylor has decided to reduce time on the road and focus instead on performing stadium shows in America along with a few festivals in Europe.
"I mean, we don’t know what is going to happen. We don’t know what treatment we’re going to choose," Taylor said of her condensed tour. "It just was the decision to make at the time, for right now, for what’s going on."
