The body of Taylor Clark, a 19-year-old Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville student who went missing while trying to sell his car on Craigslist, was found Tuesday.
Clark’s body was found not far from his abandoned 2007 Nissan 350ZX, The Associated Press reported. Tim Fagan, the deputy commander of the Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis, said Clark was the victim of a homicide, but declined to provide further details.
The engineering student from St. Jacob was reported missing on Monday. He was last seen by his girlfriend and had spoken to someone about his Craigslist ad that morning, the AP said.
KTVI-TV reported Clark was shot to death.
A Facebook post by the Troy Times-Tribune said his body was found in a shallow grave.
Police aren’t sure whether Clark met anyone about the car and
wouldn’t say whether they thought his death was connected to the ad, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported. His car was found in a Budget truck rental parking lot in the St. Louis suburb of Hazelwood.
A memorial page for Clark was set up on Facebook. It had more than 6,000 likes as of Wednesday afternoon.
A
GoFundMe page also has been established to pay for funeral expenses and establish a trust fund for his younger brother, Chase.
