Target was left with angry customers after its Hunter collection rollout turned into what many of them considered a fiasco, with many store locations understocked for the buying frenzy and some items not even being available at all.

The big-box store company and the popular British designer launched a limited-edition collection of clothing, shoes, and accessories this past weekend, Business Insider reported, but what many customers found was that the 300-piece collection was already sold out or never meant to be in the stores in the first place.

"That's the nature of our designer collaboration — they are available for a limited time only and in limited quantities," a Target representative told the Business Insider. "We don't restock the collection."

One product in the collection, "women's tall rainboots" were even recalled, angering customers even more, the Business Insider said.

Houston's KPRC-TV said Target addressed that debacle with a statement on social media.

"For guests eyeing the women's tall rain boots, unfortunately they are delayed and won't be available in stores or online when the collection launches," the statement said, per KPRC-TV. "We apologize for any disappointment and we'll share more information when we can."

Customers making the trek to Target learned that some items in the collection were only available online and other items only in certain select stores, Teen Vogue magazine reported.

The mixup left many Target customers, who took to social media, angry and frustrated.
