Tara Reid has launched a "Sharknado" themed perfume, created to connect with fans of the cult Syfy movie and its sequel last month. Shark by Tara is being met with curiosity and well as skepticism.
Reid announced Shark by Tara perfume on her website, promising a "fun feel" to the product, and not necessarily the mayhem of the movies.
"Shark by Tara perfume is a complex scent with three different levels of notes that embrace our fresh, light and fun feel," according to Reid's website. "Our top-level note is clad with iced mint, violet and lemon, while our middle note is complete with jasmine, tuberose and muguet. The last dry node is cool blue rose, amber and musk."

Reid is hoping the perfume can duplicate the success of the campy movie.
Deadline.com reported last week that "Sharknado 2" became Syfy's most watched original movie ever, hitting with 3.9 million viewers and 1.6 million adults 18-49. It beat CBS's "Extant," Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance, and ABC's "Motive" in the 18-49 demo.
Some, like MTV.com's Katie Calautti, had their own take on the new perfume.
"We just know that while you were watching the uproariously bloody (albeit scientifically sketchy) camp of 'Sharknado 2: The Second One, you were thinking to yourself, 'But how can I incorporate all this viscera into the everyday? If only I could take this experience and…bottle it," wrote Calautti.
"Well, folks … Tara Reid has heeded your unvocalized and arguably misguided plea for an interactive 'Sharknado' experience – with Shark by Tara,' the perfume," said Calautti.
Social media had a variety of responses to Shark by Tara, from surprise, curious to pure snark.
