Sweden is the best place for immigrants to live, according to a new U.S. News survey that ranks the country as the world's best country to be an immigrant.
The survey took a deep look at "international perceptions of a country, immigration policies and economic data," according to U.S. News.
America ranked No. 7 on this list, falling behind countries like Canada, Switzerland, Australia and Germany.
The survey collected information from more than 21,000 people.
Although countries' immigration policies were taken into consideration for the survey, refugee policies weren't.
"While our methodology did not focus on refugees specifically, it did take into account immigration policies and integration measures per analysis from the United Nations," said U.S. News data reporter Deidre McPhillips, according to The Washington Post. "Our aim with this package was to focus on the economic aspects of immigration and the impacts this could have on a country's perceived standing in the world."
Eric Gertler, co-chairman of U.S. News and the New York Daily News, said the survey taught him that immigration is arguably the biggest issue in the world today.
The issue has shown its importance through speeches that have been given by President Donald Trump, via immigration policy efforts from the Trump administration and the issue is amplified even more when you take a look at all the protests around the world -- some in favor of and some against immigration.
"With the recent spotlight on immigration in the U.S. and abroad, we wanted to dive into its potential benefits and challenges on a country’s perceived economic status in the world," Gertler said.
Sweden's No. 1 ranking comes just months after Trump was on record blaming immigration on problems in Sweden.
"They took in large numbers and they are having problems like they never thought possible," Trump said in February in reference to the "migrant influx" seen in Sweden in 2015, according to the Post.
