By    |   Monday, 04 Aug 2014 06:11 PM

Actress Susan Sarandon’s New York City apartment was the target of a burglary this weekend, with someone breaking in and taking several valuables from the home.

Sarandon was believed to be out of town at the time, but her son, Miles, 22, was reportedly gone from the home between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., coming home to find a laptop, jewelry, a camera, and some documents were missing, sources told the New York Post's Page Six.

Sarandon, 67, who didn’t respond to a Post request on Sunday for a comment about the incident, was supposedly informed about the break-in by a neighbor, the newspaper reported.

TMZ reported police found a ladder they believe the burglar used to get on top of the building next to Sarandon's, and then entered the actress' apartment through an open terrace door after jumping across the roofs.

Sarandon had $100,000 worth of jewelry, the Post said, but it's unknown how much was taken.

"No arrests have been made yet but the case is under investigation," the New York Police Department told UsWeekly regarding the incident. "No one was home at the time of the crime."

Sandra Bullock, who was just named Hollywood's current highest-earning actress, had a different experience when someone broke into her Los Angeles-area home in May. Bullock came face-to-face with the intruder in her hallway before calling police. Joshua Corbett was charged residential burglary and stalking, as well as 19 other felonies after officers discovered "an arsenal of weapons" in his possession, Us Weekly reported.

Sarandon has been nominated five times for an Oscar and won the Academy Award in 1996 for "Dead Man Walking."
