Microsoft's Surface Book 2 will release next month with an updated processor and lots of new features.
According to CNET, the new Surface will have a 13- or 15-inch screen and a detachable keyboard with an extra battery and graphics card. The new tablet-laptop combination machines feature Intel 8th generation Core i7 processors, which are top of the line; up to 16 GB of RAM; and up to 1 TB of storage capacity.
One of the biggest selling points of the Surface Book laptops is that the screen can detach and be used as a fully functional tablet.
This new iteration offers superior gaming capabilities compared to previous systems, making it more attractive to younger consumers, CNET said.
The new machine offers mixed reality (VR and AR) experiences through the upcoming Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, and can handle video editing and large Excel spreadsheets with no problems, CNET reported.
The Surface Book 2 is Microsoft’s attempt to compete with Apple’s MacBook Pro. In fact, it may surpass Apple’s offering in several ways, including a newer, faster processor and longer battery life (Microsoft claims 17 hours when it is hooked to the keyboard that includes an extra battery), The Verge reported.
The 13-inch Surface Book 2 will retail at $1,499 and up, depending on the chosen specs. The 15-inch model starts at $2,499. A newly improved Surface Precision Mouse also will also be available at an extra, yet-unknown cost.
The Surface Book 2 will be released Nov. 16 and preorders start Nov. 9.
A number of Twitter users were impressed with the new model.
